SPERI BELIEF
Nature is the Mother of all living things. Such simple and long last philosophy should always remind us to promote ‘Friendliness in mind – Faith in our behavior – and Beauty in our relationships’. About more than two hundreds years ago, especially after the 2
nd World War, either on purpose or non-intentional, human beings have speedily competed to search for better technology by which exploiting our natural resources. It is the greed of our men to forcing nature to follow humans wanting. Nguyen Du, a famous poet, has a say:
“Cho hay muôn sự tại Trời; Trời kia đã bắt làm người có thân; Bắt phong trần phải phong trần; Cho thanh cao mới được phần thanh cao!” Our Mother Nature has become increasingly angry towards the many disrespecting behaviors of human beings (Tran thi Lanh, 1992).
Social Policy Ecology Research Institute and its sister organizations TEW – CHESH – CIRD have long committed to research the different functions as well as value system and the relational behaviors between Human and Nature at each highland eco-system zone along the Mekong. All the highland watershed areas are the land of indigenous communities who by days and nights they are the ones often worshipping for our Mother Nature. The land is also the birth place to born and nurtures the roots of our human beings throughout the evolution.
